Working Students & Internships

 

 

We offer a working student program to independent, hard-working, and reliable candidates age 13 & up for the opportunity to work off some lessons, riding time, leasing opportunities, or reduced board expenses.

We also offer internships for high school student looking to receive 1 credit or 1/2 credit .  

 

Candidates must have reliable transportation to qualify for the working student/internship program. Internships are one of the best ways for students to learn about the world of work.

 

Candidates who are interested in joining our team as an intern should email us for more information. 

​

Working students & intern candidates MUST be able to work independently, safely, and responsibly around horses, and MUST take direction well. We hold high expectations for our working students that must be met. Working Students MUST be reliable and responsible.

Requirements for working students: 

​

We offer this opportunity to students who have been enrolled in lessons for at least 6 months. 

​

  • Students must be over the age of 13.

  • Must have parent or guardian permission.

  • Must have proper & reliable transportation.

  • Must have a strong work ethic

  • Must be able to lift at minimum 50 pounds (that is what a bag of grain & a bale of hay weigh) .

  • Must be able to take direction well.

  • Must be able to take constructive criticism well (this is a learning process for them, they need to be able to learn from their mistakes). 

  • Must be able to work independently.

  • Must be able to work well with others.

  • Must be able to commit to at least 2-3 days per week of 4 hours.

  • Must be able to commit to at least a 6 month term & a signed contract.

**Please remember, this is a non-paid position, this is a learning position and an opportunity to reduce the overall costs of lessons, leasing, boarding and/or other opportunities at our facility.

If these commitments are too much for you but you still want to volunteer, we do offer the opportunity for folks to do this as well. 

​

Volunteers must be able to do the following: 

  • Must be able to take direction well

  • Must be able to take constructive criticism well (this is a learning process for them, they need to be able to learn from their mistakes). 

  • Must be able to work independently. 

  • Must be able to work well with others.

** Please note that volunteering is just how it sounds, so this means you get nothing other than good feelings for the time you spend at the barn. ​
